all fridges work better on AC & Gas, and not so well on 12 V DC. Your experience pretty much parrells mine. I use 12V while under way, as running with Gas ON is a bomb waiting to go off in the event of an accident, and VERY dangerious (and illegal) when pulling into a gas station. If we are going to be stopped for more than 1 hour, we switch to gas, takes less than 1 minute. M
