Pull the speedo and look at the gears. Are they OK? Are the little axles that support them in place? Speedo cable drive at the left front grease cap intact or stripped out? It is a square drive I think. If the metal rounds out, no more cable drive. A new speedo from the dealer is $85. Mine died screaming at me and my ATF drip onto the internals frequency continued to rise until I got tired of it.
