If you have an inexpensive (cheap is good) AFM and throttle body with a functioning switch attached, I am interested. My Vanagon is an 88 Westy, manual transmission.

Warren, I rebuild throttle bodies. They are completely disassembled, cleaned, wear grooves in the throat filled with JB Weld then all parts are painted with hi-temp aluminium engine paint. New shaft seals, new air screw O-ring in stalled. Any other worn parts are replaced. The shaft and flap assembly are then installed and shimmed with stainless steel shims so that the flap stays centred and does not touch anywhere in the throat and be used as the bearing surface as originally mis-manufactured. Throttle stop screw is reset. Throttle plate switch is checked for operation and adjusted to factory specs. You will have to adjust the idle air bypass screw after installation and start-up. I have one now ready to go and offer an exchange program. You send me your old worn out throttle body and I send you a rebuilt one - cost $300 CND plus S&H to your location. If your throttle body is toast and cannot be rebuilt then there is a $50 core charge or if I do not have any in stock to send you then we are not able to do business ! If you think $300 is out of bounds you need to call your VW dealer and check on the current price of a new throttle body for a reality check. I have done quite a few of these recently, all successful and happy customers !

Cheers,
