My 1980 ASI model camper has a 2way compressor style fridge. it doesn't seem to mind potholes much, I'm not sure about effectiveness on slopes/inclines but I don't fret as much about it as a westy fridge. not sure on the amps draw, but it'll run a few days (depending on usage and temps ) off the deep cycle marine battery.

I know p*pboys often advertises a 2way fridge (dorm sized or slightly larger) for under $50 often around $30 with rebates.

I've been tempted to get one for my father's 7 passanger tool hauler diesel.

Hi Volks, I was just at Fry's today and almost bought a really nice Sanyo mini = fridge to try to replace my not too cold in hot weather propane fridge. The Sanyo has a freezer and only draws .9 amps or about 8-9 amps at 12 = volts, I would only use it underway or parked with shore power.=20

My question is it has a regular compressor like a home fridge about the = size of a small oval cantaloupe.=20 When I picked up the fridge to see how heavy it was you could feel the = weight inside the compressor sloshing about and hitting the sides of the = compressor. Since these models are designed for stationary home use, what happens if = you are driving down the road with one running and hitting pot holes, = pavement strips, etc.=20 Is the thing going be ruined?

I know there was a thread in the archives about some of you guys using = these small "dorm" style fridges has anybody tried it with success?

I know Karl put an all electric unit in his rig and is quite happy with = it but its a Norcold 12 volt model.=20

Thoughts?
