Roger and all, thanks for your comments. The alt belt runs around the water pump, and I just replaced it again after getting new stainless steel pulley on alt. [beat my old time on stabbing the bottom bolt by 1 day 23 hrs 45 min ;-) ...goes to show whatever you do, you usually get better the second time!] However, I still have the problem ;-( Can anyone else tell me if the support arm on alt has a slight bend about three inches from top? I have one that says yes, and one that says no...need some clarification. Also, does anyone have one of these arms for sale? The only other thing I can think of, is that somehow the waterpump pulley is not in alignment. Are there any shims behind the waterpump that can be pulled out to allow it to sit further back? This may be the problem. I also have heard that rust can be the problem, but after one year of driving I doubt if that could still be a factor (and besides, there doesn't appear to be much rust to speak of). Thanks for any help on this matter. James in Houston 87 Westy (the Phoenix)
