Subject: Syncro Air Intake
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I was getting part information for a hose replacement on the air intake for my 1991 Syncro Westy when I realized that maybe the air intake on my van is incorrect. Peter at Volkscafe has sent me an ETKA parts sheet to help identify the part and as I reviewed the ETKA information I noticed that the air intake looked very different than the one my Syncro. Ahead of the filter housing (back towards the tail light) is a L shaped hose or fitting that is not a part of my van's air intake. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the plastic panel that fits on the inside of the engine bay in front of the right tail light has another connection point that looks like it would accomodate the L shaped hose I see in ETKA.

The hose I am replacing is a short section between the water filter and the air filter that split apart due to stress because it didn't fit very well. There is about a 1.5 to 2" rise from the water trap up to the filter housing. I am wondering if anyone could help me resolve this without actually looking at the air intake on my van. It does seem that this L shaped hose or fitting would work nicely versus what is there now.
