Subject: Thermostat and radiator questions...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Just got a new thermostat housing for my '88 GL, complete with new thermostat. The question I have is on orientation - the ETKA shows the thermostat in the housing with the longer "plunger" side up, and the O-ring UNDER the thermostat. The Bentley shows the thermostat with the plunger side down, and the O-ring on TOP of the thermostat.

The Bentley seems to make more sense, but I would like to verify this with the list. I could just look at how the original one is installed - but after 17 years, who's to say it's right anymore, I don't know how many morons have had their hands in there - not counting my hands too!

The locally recommended shop in Greensboro wanted $400 (minimum) to replace the thermostat housing, drain, refill and bleed the cooling system - seems way high to me...and I was providing the housing!

Also, I seem to remember a website with pictures and a description on removing / replacing the radiator, since it looks like I'll be tackling that job soon, too - anybody know the website? I need to know any gotcha's with the removal / replacement, especially as the '88 has A/C (and is an automatic). How high does the front end have to come up to get it out???
