That part number (3B0 601 147 D)breaks out to "wheel trim" also available in
colors
3B0 601 149 D and 3B0 601 149 are wheel caps. These shipped on Passat (used
2k year) the "D" appears to have some kind of pattern stamped in as well as
the VW on it. The plain does not have the additional stuff just the VW.
The "Dust caps" are a need part of the axel protection. They also keep the
grease from escaping.
