This is not an uncommon phenomenon... Several years back I mistakenly put 5w 30 in the vanagon And had the same ³ off the exit ramp² experience. I took it to the local euro-garage which Reported that once they put the engine back on 20w-50 - the Oil pressure returned to normal at idle and sent me on my [ road trip ] way I am not sure if this causes/ caused damage but err... 800 miles later... My engine had a partial meltdown on the Mass Pike. Forensic analysis by Boston Bob the next summer was inconclusive as to the cause. So in the process of replacing the engine I heard the stories about what one Bad fuel injector can do and replaced all of them along with all the coolant hoses, New converter, O2 sensor, exhaust, blah , blah , blah Replacing all the fuel lines this Saturday... [finally ]

I'm using 20W50 in mine, but still experience a strange phenomenon... I don't see the little led come on until after a highway run and then at idle it flickers...sometimes lights solid, but once RPM's are up it goes away... We just had 'er apart back in February to do the heads and I am told (someone else did the heads for me...) the hash marks were still on the cylinder walls... Could my rings be worn? Bearings? I have had folks say not to worry since it goes away once you put it under load (RPM up). Thoughts?
