If you still have the cloth covered lines you can have leaks and never see them. The rubber underneath the covering can become as porous as a cloth and you will smell the vapors very clearly. The problem is to tell which line. So I just replace all of them. Also another strange item. Last summer during the really peak hot days I was developing a gas odor after driving for a while but seemed to trace it to the gas cap. (a locking one) with the 100 degreeF plus days recently the odor was back extremely strong and traced back to my filler cap area. I am now going to examine the inside of the filler area where the filler neck goes through the body. jimt On 7/27/05 8:48 AM, "David Bohannan" <fjazzbass@GMAIL.COM> wrote: > I have started to notice a gas smell up front (nowhere near rear, and > thankfully just re-did fuel lines back there in Feb) And its primarily > after the tank is full... > > I cannot see any gas seepage or leaking...I am wondering if there is a > seal on top of the tank that is allowing the gas to vent out the fumes > when I am driving.... |
