John it sounds like you live out west, maybe California where in some citys the VW bus is considered a status symbol (thinking Orange County) come visit Florida and look in the classifieds....you will find all kinds of VW goodies at cheap prices. My theory is this: down South a VW bus is considered a "tree hugger mobile" only a few people really know the value of these fine utilitarian workhorses. Also, it is hard to find a VW bus with cold WORKING AC....something that most cant live without down here in the summers. I once bought an 84 westy wolfsburg for $600. its interior was unused and all it needed was a new engine. (i had to sell it for $900:( So either move here or search AutoTrader.com....better yet get a subscription to the mag that covers Florida. countys. . Phil 84' Westy Tiicoed
