Whoops -- sorry, sorry, sorry . . . didn't mean to fire up a tired thread.

I tried to word it so that the focus remained tight, as in: real encounters between black bears and Westy poptops.

NOT endless stories about bears in general, warnings about leaving food outside (yeah, duh), yahoos bragging about how if they found a bear in camp they'd shoot first and ask questions later, . . . and other tales, anecdotes, hearsay, speculation, bear country newbie advice, and myths.

That said, the helpful hints I've received about using other Vanagon folk as bait or distraction has been /very/ helpful.
