Subject: Question RE installing late radiator into 83 diesel
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

As part of my diesel westy TD conversion, I have already mounted the compressor in the car with the engine.

I found a Behr underdash unit but still need a few parts.

I'm told a good upgrade would be to put a late model radiator and fan assembly in the diesel to handle the extra heat load, which of course wouldn't hurt with the turbo anyway.

My question is to anyone who has done it: what's the deal with mounting the new radiator in the old mounts. Is there anything to make? I heard that the top mounts must be fabricated to fit.

What about mounting the Behr condensor? Is it the same as the dealer-installed condensors in the vanagon?

Thanks,

Jim
