Yes- it is the same vehicle as the European model. So far what I have been able to find is that there were only 6,000 made in this color.

There was also a Redstar, and only 89 of them were made) 89 to reflect on the year of production)

Now about the windows- they are manual. That may be the only difference.

It has power mirrors, power door locks.

I have seen only one before in a wrecking yard the last ten years, and I know where another one sits in a junkyard. I bought the remaining good striped jumpseat from it to replace mine which had a corner chewed off by the PO's dog.

There was also a whole VW line of Bluestars in 1989 The Golf, Jetta, Fox, Vanagon and Cabriolet Wolfsburg Editions (or Hannovers) were all Star Blue Metallic. An ad for the Bluestar line went" Limited availability is only one of their virtues"
