The last water pump I got was from a VW dealer for about $120. plus tax. It was remanufactured in Italy according to a sticker on it. I was told new was not available. That was about 4 years ago.

If I had it all to do over again I'd got with a German brand for the $50 or whatever it costs. Arguably $120 is a bit much for a remanufactured pump.

Just told by my mechanic that my water pump is bad. He says the VW originals are hard to find and very expensive since they are so rare, and none of the aftermarket pumps have very good quality. He suggests a VW remanufacture but hasn't gotten back to me on price. I'd love any opinions or info so I can have a more informed discussion with him before making a decision.
