Subject: John Wallace hasn't fixed his email even after Robert's call,
              today's repair adventures

Before I sent the recent email to the list about Robert's conversation with the now legendary John Wallace, I replied to Barb Cotton's inquiry about tire pressure and cc'd the list. And after I sent the post about John Wallace and looked at my inbox I found I'd been John Wallaced as a result of the server sending the response to Barb to the him.

My reply to Robert was appropriate. We all need his working address so we can send him an email every time we get JW'd. This is getting old, both for the JW messages themselves and all this list traffic about them.

I am tired as I spent a lot of time today trying to wrestle the rear half shafts out of the Mercedes. It seems to be much simpler than doing Vanagon CV axles because it is a splined device much like many modern front wheel drive cars. In fact the very axle that I am putting in can be used in many other vehicles. The box even calls it a front axle. But I got it from one of the most list friendly MB web sites. Great prices, basic shipping free for orders over $100 - got the axles the next day on a mid morning call. It looked simple enough but there was this bolt that you couldn't get a wrench on, 8 bolts on the rear diff cover that all had sealant on their threads, and the inner joint of the right axle just won't come out. I finally just quit and posted to a couple of MB lists.

Earlier I tried to get the accelerator cable on the weekender to work right. All of a sudden it is not sliding back easily and it sticks at 12-2k rpms sometimes. At least I got it to where it drops back down with a tap of the foot. It is a mechanical problem, not a FI system problem. I can feel it stick. I'll tackle that some more tomorrow.

Sam
