Actually, it seems you could do a good job of sharing the braking load with the toad, assuming it has good brakes too. You just need to find the right brake system.

What you'll never be able to share with the Thing is power. Imagine sitting at a stop light in 100 degree heat at the bottom of a mountain that just rises up like a wall in front of you.

That would give me butterflies in either vanagon (that would be John or Wallace).
