I had somewhat similar symptoms a few years back in my
'84.  The problem was a failed spark plug wire.  The
loss of power, however, was quite pronounced, as i was
running on only 3 cylinders.

I've also had a problem where the ground contact
within the AFM failed (it is the copper spring arm
that rides on top of the wiper).  Check continuity
here, and make sure it is a strong connection.  Mine
intermittently stopped touching where it was supposed
to.  A little bend made it all better.
