My screen arrived without any snaps in place. I put them on both the screen
and van at the same "sitting" and last summer I left the screen on for about
5 months I used to van so much. It attaches entirely inside the van and the
door can be slid open/shut without interference. Can't say I understand
about the "two down near the bottom of one side" since there were no snaps
on mine to begin with. All my female snaps face the same "direction",
installed to snap to the males which are all inside the van. The rear of the
screen, at the bottom, is designed to fit around the seat/bed cushion and
snap to the front of the bottom of the bench face.
My screen was tall enough that the top of it attached to the gray
rails/circulation air boxes above the door. A couple of the snaps were
attached to the screws that hold some of those vents in place, if that helps
with the approximate elevation of the top of the screen. I still have a
pretty good length of fold at the bottom of the screen, inside the door.
Makes a pretty nice bug seal.
An afterthought: those two snaps at the bottom of yours: are they on the
back end of the screen, nearest the bench? If so, they may have designed
that location for them so the snaps attach to the bottom of the bench (one
high, one low) by placing the inside of the screen against the bench. I put
all my snaps on facing the same direction, and "turned" that bottom part of
the screen into the van and against the bench. Either way would work fine.
