While we were camped at Carpenteria State Beach (absolutely packed by the way) on Monday night, we heard comments like "oh, look at that - a VW camper - I've never seen one before"!! Makes you wonder where they've been for 40 years or so!! We also get comments like "they must be something new on the market"!! Amazing.
