Sounds like you are not getting good flow through the radiator at idle speed. If the engine overheated to the point of stem, you need to check the pressure cap, the thermostat, and the radiator itself. It is possible for the radiator to crack internally allowing coolant to enter and leave without actually flowing through. The overheat could have also damaged the head gasket or cracked the head filling the system with vapors.

Hi gang, Making this short --- borrowing net access from campground owner. Lost a tee connection in coolant system. Fixed it and re-filled coolant and bled system. Cooling fan wouldn't come on. Ran wires to a switch on the dash so I can turn ithe fan on when I want to. Engines overheats when I idle for longer thana few minutes --- even with the fan going. Does anyone have any sort of explanation for this. I have an 84 Westy with an I4 conversion in it. HELP. Also -- could someone lookup and send me shop recommendations near Green Lane PA --- 45 miles NW of Philly.

Thanks in advance, Doug

PS --- I'll be able to check e-mail this evening
