1) I made a little block of wood with a strong magnet on the back. It lives on the inside of the license plate flap. When I open the flap, I put the block of wood between the body and the flap, just above one of the flap's hinges. Keeps the flap open and horizontal so I can stick my nose in to check belts, coolant, and oil without using one hand to hold the flap. 2) I took out the brake warning light indicator and grafted another switch in its place for my driving lights. Looks stock. I use the rear defroster switches because they are cheap/free, and put a small square of electrical tape over the symbol. I put a small LED in the panel for the brake warning light.
