Regarding the State Farm insurance. I haven't had to make a claim on my 89 Westy but I asked my agent how much State Farm would pay if the van was totaled. He wouldn't give me a number but made it clear State Farm would not pay anything approaching what I believe is real market value (between 11,000 and 15,000.) I have extensively rehabed the van and put in lots of extras, including a furnace, a secondary battery, extra lighting, satellite radio, a rebuilt motor and a complete paint job. What is it about these insurance companies that they refuse to pay true market rates -- and apparently can get away with it? I have attempted to find other insurance that would give me full coverage--without success. Grundy.com wouldn't even give me a written response. They would only respond by phone that they "don't insure vans." I worry that a crash ccould take away my favorite toy. Dan R. 89 Westy Camper 4spd |
