Street water goes into the storm drains then heads right into river beds or the ocean, carrying all kinds of nasty compounds. So it is recommended that washing cars and car bits either be done at a commercial car wash (where they are required by law to cleanse the water), or over a lawn, so it does not go down the storm drain.
