I'll jump in here, This summer for the first time we traveled without the top bunk in place. I bought some low plastic storage boxes (for under beds) from CDN Tire and cut them to fit under the pop-top, I stored my cloths up there in 2 such plastic boxes. This meant more room in the back, and 1 or 2 fewer suitcases to lift out each night as my wife and I sleep 'down'. Worked very well and we will continue to travel w/o the top bunk. Malcolm
