RE: Others Comments on This Thread The thing that bothers me is that several of the thefts reported have all the Hallmarks of someone that was targeting the specific vehicle, knew what it was and where it was. Over the years in the Amateur Astronomy community there have been several incidents of stolen equipment (usually telescopes) that clearly had to be someone the owner knew, like stolen from a public storage area and only the many parts of the complex, disassembled telescope taken, nothing else touched. I just returned from a week long event with 700 other astronomers and at such events we commonly leave tens of thousands of dollars of equipment sitting out (scopes, mounts, even $600 eyepieces and $2,000 CCD cameras) with no problems at the events. (There have been exceptions in other parts of the country). But, because of some isolated incidents, you have to wonder about the guy you have never met before that takes a detailed interest in your equipment. I'm beginning to think that the same caution might apply in the Vanagon/Westfalia community.
