I think Chris has them all over there in Pennsylvania. They just disappear after a few years of rust attack and are never seen again. I guess he just tills the remaining pipes of rust into the soil in his garden.

We have just seen another posting of a stolen Westy, this time a Syncro with trailer attached. Some of the vehicles reported stolen on the various lists have turned up and were obviously 'joy riders' but I can't recall seeing many reports of recovery for several of the stolen Westys and Syncros. My question is "Where are they going?" These vehicles are so specialized I can't imagine anyone thinking that they actually use the vehicle. Are the VINs being changed and the rigs repainted? Are they being parted out and sold on eBay? Where do they end up that we don't see a posting of a recovery? I ask this to maybe heighten the awareness in the Vanagon/Westfalia/Syncro community of what we might be more on the lookout for.
