Subject: How bout a different tire thread?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

I was taking my Audi 4kq factory wheels/tires(they were not holding air according to the PO) to a friend who does fancy wheels and tires and he put a lot of work into them to get them to seal up again. He found almost 8 oz of water in one of the tires, likely from repeated trips to a local "free" air pump at a convenience store or other outfit. He asid that many air compressors without adequate filtering will shoot a very moist air into the tire and over time, you get water in there that will freeze in the winter not to mention cause strange balancing issues. He also put nitrogen in the Audi tires to cut down on expansion and contraction issues with regular air. He said it's hard to get 100% nitrogen in there, but 95% was possibble.

Any one have experience with this? I owuld figure race car drivers would benefit from this, but he showed mea dozen samples of water collected from various tires he's broken down and to look at it would make you puke!!
