John
This reminds me of an experience with a "similar product" in my pre
vanagon days. My ex and I were crossing Canada and camping in the back
of a Peugeout 504 wagon. For privacy she had sewn curtains to cover
all the windows but as we were running late the hooks to hold them were
not installed. We were going to use double sided tape to hold the
curtains in place.
All went well the first couple of nights out on the prairies but as we
got into Ontario the humidity rose and our problems began. One night in
Trenton (the mosquito capital of Canada?) we were setting up in the
back of a mobile park that had a "lovely little creek" aka mosquito
breeder in the back. I was attempting to hang the curtains by attaching
tape to the glass which under the humidity situation was a no go as the
glass was covered with a film of moisture. Hmm thought I. Alcohol will
absorb the moisture. No good wasting good scotch on this thought I.
Hon, got anything thats alcohol based? Yes of course, some perfumed
skin cleanser. Cotton balls and this magic elixer and I was back in
business. Until I spilled it that is and it's aromatics filled the car
making it unbearable. Shortening a long story we spent an unbearable
night trapped in a reeking, hot, humid car with mossies attempting to
find a way in, some successfully. To top it off it was her birthday
and in the ongoing excitement I forgot all about that.
The next morning we found coffee and a hardware store where we bough
screening and duct tape and screened the windows making life bearable
again.
Hmmm That could be a temporary fix for the westy...
