One of the questionable decisions VW made was to connect all the dash grounds together inside the wiring harness of the dash and then run a single wire to the chassis. That means a bunch of unrelated stuff share a single ground wire. When this wire gets messed up where it plugs onto the chassis all kinds of screwy things can happen. What year Vanagon do you have? Freaked me out a few times before I put the combination together, now I just charge my phone from the 12v accessory plug under the passenger seat, but it'd be nice to fix this little wiring glitch next time I spend some time behind the dash. > >Any suggestions on how/why/what could be causing this? > >TIA, >Jon > > > |
