Was talking with the Chrysler channel parts guys yesterday about that same subject. So far everything cooked up on a mercedes bed is being done in the US wearing standard Chrysler shoes with the exception of the sprinter family. The current daimler/chrysler plans are that anything on a daimler bed will be built in the US and not exported to the US. Below is an interesting link from my bookmarks and below that is a clip from that site.. http://www.danny-steyn.com/ultimate_windsurfing_van_02.htm ///quoted text--- Tires are another issue. As you know, in the 16" diameter rage, there are very few tires with load ratings over 2200lbs. ...... The 130mm x 5 bolt hole pattern is only found on Porsche cars and the Mercedes G-Wagen. Unfortunately none of the hundreds of really cool Porsche wheels meet the 70mm offset needed, and only a few met the load requirement. ---End quoted text//// Even though the subject is a sprinter conversion I recommend the reading on the site. jimt On 8/16/05 6:00 PM, "David Marshall" <mailinglist@FASTFORWARD.CA> wrote: > Now that Mercedes Benz DNA is ramped in Chrysler vehicles, is there any > wheels, like the ones on the Crossfire for example, that will fit the > Vanagon? > David Marshall > > Fast Forward Automotive Inc. > 4356 Quesnel-Hixon Road > Quesnel BC Canada V2J 6Z3 > > Internet: www.fastforward.ca Email: sales@fastforward.ca > Phone: (250) 992 7775 > > - Vanagon Engine Conversions and Accessories > - Vanagon, Transporter and Iltis Sales and Importation > - Electrical harness fabrication and customization > > Due to the large volume of email we receive, PLEASE include previous > emails when responding. > This will allow us to read the complete dialogue in one message and will > result in quicker and more accurate responses. > > |
