My poptop seal was sagging so I thought I'd try to glue it back in place. I pulled out the 3M Weatherstriping cement and applied it liberally. It didn't help the sag for more than a week and a month later the pop top looked uglier than before because now there was this congealed hardened cement all over the edge of the poptop. I tried to wash it off, tried to rub it off with a rag and gasoline, tried to scrape it off...nada!. Went to a hardware store and bought the special 3M solvent for weatherstriping cement...nada again, seemed to disolve only the outer .001 of the cement. I could see that it would take 10 hours of elbow grease and many containers of this $8 miracle solvent. I tried rubbing compound, seemed to work but there would also be alot of elbow grease involved. Finally I pulled out my dremel with the small sanding cylinders and this did the job. It's awkward and slow, scuffs the poptop material abit, but it works...I'm doing 1-2 foot sections at a time and eventually will be back to the point where I can replace the damn poptop seal which is what I should have done from the start.
