Does it also sound noisy when cold? Noisy like additional exhaust noise? Check for loose head studs. When the engine warms, the expanding cylinders will seal the heads again. This is common on the air cooled engines.

Hi folks,

My 82 westy is running funny when cold. It's just running rough and has a lack of power. Feels regulated, like it just doesn't have what it should.

After about 10 minutes of driving it just pops back to life and runs beautifully. Nice and smooth with plenty of power.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks a bunch

Greg 1982 Westy (California edition)
