Batteries have date codes on them. They can honor a warranty to date of manufacture. Note that these warranties are really to cover defects. They are not guaranties as to how long a battery will last. Some retailers will just eat them for the sake of customer relations.

Eduntz, Thats the point...I didn't have a receipt. Thats Autozones way of not warranting parts/items. They know how often cars are bought/sold so if they come up with a lame rule like that, they will save a fortune. The reason I didn't bitch at the time is that the battery looked pretty old, so I figured I wouldn't have gotten much "prorated" off the new battery anyway. I think by and large, most battery warranties are a gimmick anyway. james
