Costco is a membership only store. The member's ID number is tracked
with every purchase. They would have no trouble enforcing a original
purchaser warranty. The membership ID number is on the receipt.

Walmart is another matter. Their stated battery policy even covers no
receipt, using the battery date code as the warranty date if you don't
have a receipt.

I have never returned a battery to either place but I have purchased
them at both.
