Sounds like you're running on a loose valve seat that's about to drop and destroy a piston, cylinder. Stop what you're doing and run a compression check. Look at your valve stems and see if they are fully returning to normal position. Check for slack on your valve rockers that could indicate a valve being help partially open on a loose seat. Call me if you need a good CV series Vanagon head I've got one good head left for $100.00
