Hello,

Just completed my first multi-day camping trip in my '90 Westy with my wife and children ( 5 year old son and 3 old daughter). We headed 30 miles South of Big Sur to Kirk Creek Campground. This is a no-reservation campground with 33 sites. By arriving early (before 9am ) you can pretty much count on someone else leaving a site. We got a great site with an unobstructed view of the Ocean with a fairly level parking spot. The campground is on a bluff directly over the Pacific Ocean and the Bay was filled with Humpback whales!

Our Westy ran great and had no problem with the hills along the coast. I put about 5 gallons of water in the reservoir but should have brought more as there was a recommendation to boil the campground water for 5 minutes before drinking. With our children the sink was a huge plus for cleaning up and brushing the teeth. Although prior to the trip we had a put a fairly comprehensive list of things to pack we ended up adding a lot of things to it. Unfortunately I did not have time to install my Optima Auxillary Battery prior to the trip and was nervous about running the main battery down. The LED display for the Water Reservoir/Battery worked as the Battery stayed in the Green and the engine fired right up when it was time to leave!

We were the only Westy in the Campground although we saw several other Westies while driving and even saw a Bay Window camper towing a Bay Window custom trailer! All in all it was an excellent trip and we are already planning our next adventure!
