You could try draining about a quart of your oil and putting in a quart of Dexron/Mercron ATF and running the van for about 500 miles. Then you should do an oil and filter change. If this doesn't fix it then go on to replace the lifter. The best thing to do would be to identify the lifter by using a stethescope or a long screw driver to the ear. Once you find the offender then you could buy one lifter and an expandable push rod tube to fix it without taking too much apart.

We have new lifters (Febi) and expandable push rod tubes in stock if you need them.

Hope this helps, Ken Wilford John 3:16 http://www.vanagain.com http://www.strictlyvwauctions.com http://www.eurovan.org http://www.vwcabrio.org Phone: (856)-327-4936 Fax: (856)-327-2242

so what to do with a stuck lifter? it's not stuck all the time and it loosens up after about 1/2 hour of driving. Am I courting disaster? -- --------------------------------------------- Donald Baxter 316 Ridgeview Avenue University Heights, Iowa 52246 www.onanov.com
