The risk of buying the base without the seat is not that great. Any Vanagon front seat will fit the base. They just slide on. People with grey interiors can get just the base and add a grey seat to match the rest. As to the auction you refer to, someone paid way to much for the seat part. I wonder if they realized the base did not come with it. It said so in the ad but the photo showed the whole thing.

>As most of you might be aware, the prices for the single middle seat can range from reasonable to astronomical. When I saw one earlier this summer for, what was it, about $400 on eBay, I was amazed. I don't know if the bidder followed through or not, but that was quite a price. What just amazed me as much was the most recent eBay auction for such a thing- but in this case, the seller was selling the seat and the base separately! I certainly wouldn't take the risk to get only half of the seat. Is there someone out there who only needs the seat or the base but not both? Apparently someone either needed it or took the risk, because they were both sold for just over $100, to two different bidders. Gee, I've got some extra front non-Vanagon seats to sell. Maybe I should list the back, bottom, side adjuster knob all seperately. Or does that only work with a Vanagon? > >Ed > > >
