Mark: I modified a standard Air Cooled Vanagon intake plenum and mounted a little single barrel Weber Carb on it to run on my test bench / engine stand. I don't know if the Body Putty and Fiberglass I used for the mods would stand the long term needs in a closed engine compartment but it worked great on my test stand while breaking in engines. Since the mod is so simple you cold reproduce it in steel very easily and weld it to the plenum. The throttle response was rather slow because of the long intake runners so you might consider something more like dual carb mounting on Type I engines in Bugs, Beatles etc. I've got a picture if you want it.
