ok i need to chime in.. lol i'll take the hit. anyway seems i have this old ball issue and it might be related to this oil/main bearing noise. I'm putting 20/50 back in, have 40wt and starting to get this noise near the drivers side rear that sounds like a howl near the valve cover or main bearing, no oil light comes on and the van drives very well. ITS JUST this noise that bugging me. could it be that i'm not getting the correct lube in the main bearing OR my pump is going to the cleaners?

any feedback or just a hey can't help is cool.

20/50 dino is all I will run in my 84 Westy, especially during hot summers and have for the past 8 years traveling all over the country. 10/30 or 10/40 is acceptable during colder extended periods, but that's usually during the winter months. Single wt 30 or 40 makes the oil light flicker like crazy at a stop after a long highway run, even with a fresh engine.
