could be right. all the '96-'01 (first generation B5 body) audi A4's that ive seen that had 16" wheels were all 45mm offset.. i know some early (B5 body) ('98-'01)passats had 15", but they were 45mm offset as well. the audi A4 and B5 Passat wheels are a direct bolt on for the eurovans..which have the same 45mm offset wheels.

i think the A6 may be different. i know the A8 is definately different, and thats what those et 38 wheels you got most likely are.. kinda rare, since most A8's had the 17" wheels. the 16" et38 A8 wheels are rare..they work great on older audis tho, and could be a good choice for the vanagon once the mods are done, because of the lower offset and the smaller size.
