A big thanks to everyone, the light is out & the rear wipers/washer does work.

I picked this up yesterday morning north of Seattle and took it home, it's an 87 Wolfsburg Vanagon with a lot of miles. It's good to drive a VW again. I have not forgotten how to shift and only once have I tried to start it without putting in the clutch. I adjusted the rear brakes this morning, I still need to find an oil filter so I can change the oil. I also need to find seat belts for the rear z-bed seat. The bolts that go into the firewall are still there but on the sides it's just brackets. The local wrecking yard had an 87 but the back seat & belts were already gone. I'm going to measure the bracket on some of the older Vanagons there.

On my way home yesterday I stopped and filled the gas tank. The gauge was at the 1/2 mark & it took 10 gallons (@ $2.64 ea). Today the trip meter was at 111.1 miles, the gauge was at 1/4 (down) & it took 5.6 gallons. That works out to 19.8 mpg. From the reading I did at the Vanagon.com web site the tank should hold 15 gallons, the tank had been replaced as part of a recall but I saw no mention of them putting in a bigger one so I expect the gauge will drop pretty quick after it passes the 1/2 way mark.

The fog lamps work, the heaters work. Now if i could just remember where to move the 4 levers on the heater control things will be great! <g>.

I am going to have to replace the clutch <shrug>, I could feel that when I test drove it. Lot's of travel to get it to do it's thing, then it engages quickly when I let it up.

I guess it's time to go measure the seat belt brackets that are on it and see if I can find my VW list window decal. I KNEW I was going to get another VW when I ordered that decal!
