Hi,

Thanks to all who have replied. I am OK with not having a woodruff
key now.

So I put everything back together, and find that the fan (between the
pulley and alternator) scrapes the alternator. The fan fits perfectly
on the OG Bosch alternator (just tried it again) - but scrapes with
no clearance on the rebuilt (no name) alternator. I'll go out and
find a washer to put in between the pressed-in bushing and the fan -
but just wanted to send an FYI in case anyone else is considering one
of those cheap $99 alternators. My only concern now is having the
belt somewhat out of alignment. I'll have to watch it I suppose.

As a side note, I came across an article outlining how to upgrade to
a later-style 90 amp alternator. Anyone have experience doing this? I
know that I would have to modify the stock harness/connector, and
from the article, it looked like some other bits needed modification:
