Was going to be made with ford but it seems ford has backed out.  VW is
however going ahead with the project.  Just read an article this morning on
it.
The reason neither of the two small vans that vw has on the design boards
and in testing are not coming to the US is because they are both too small
and neither has a "history" with EPA or NHTSA in the USA or Canada.  The
"NEW" daimler designed chrysler/plymouth Voyager base however has and can go
through a short route of testing for compliance with its VW modifications.
Would very much like to see what that newly designed platform looks like and
what its load limits are.  I have seen rumors of light commercial
applications for it.
