Subject: 87 Westy will trade for Truck
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
Hello guys,
I am getting ready to sale my 87 Westy on Ebay in a few weeks (I will post a
link here
when I get some pix ready) but I thought I would find out if anyone here was
interested
in a trade. The deal is I'm moving to the very SE corner of Minnesota to
live on a farm,
and I really need something more practical. Since this is my only vehicle I
cannot be
in a rural area where there are NO vw mechanics, plus my financial situation
is going
to be tight so I need something a bit more reliable ;-)
The van is in pretty good shape with the cosmetics being the main problem.
Nothing big
but it has a few small dings and dents here and there and needs a paint job
bad. The
interior is complete and the dash is the cleanest one I've ever seen...no
cracks or nothing.
Nice new Kenwood CD radio. The tent has water stains and a few small tears
in the screen. It needs replacing really. It needs new seals all around. Pop
top and luggage rack.
The stove and frig supposedly works but I have never tried them. Odometer
doesn't work.
Stopped at 92,000 miles about 5 or 6 years ago. I doubt if theres much over
150,000 miles
on her. Four very good tires and it drives really well. The AC works good
(as good as Vanagon AC's get) and has a new compressor.
The engine is very good. Basically it caught fire with the PO about 1 1/2
years ago and I
spent about $6,000 getting the engine up and running. Much new...alternator,
water pump,
belts, hoses, etc. All the fuel lines have been replaced. It doesn't leak
oil AT ALL. (nor does it use it). And it doesn't have a lot of rust at all. A
few seam spots and a few rusty scatches
in the paint. All in all, I think it is a good vehicle and has many years of
use still in her. I just got back a few months ago from taking her on a
round-trip cruise to MN from Texas.
It just needs someone with some money (which I don't have right now) to
finish the restoration job. As is I'm trying to get $6,000 for her (I'm
desperate!).
I'm looking for any newer model truck, maybe 95' or newer. Must be in good
shape and run
well. I would prefer a smaller truck w/ extended cab. Toyota, Nissan, or
Mazda would be good but I will consider any and all offers. If an American
truck, nothing over 100,000 miles.
Call me or email me.
