Had this happen on my 84 a few years back, usually after higher speeds (70-75) on interstate. Stopped filling the oil level to the full mark and it stopped. Now I only put 4 quarts in at an oil change and only add part of a quart is it gets down to the low mark. Running 20w50 Castrol.
