Subject: oil press light
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi Volks, Last night my oil press idiot light started to flicker. I have an '85 Westy. It has a Mann Filter with 20W50 dino in it. The original engine has 161K on it. I am about time for an oil change so that's what I will do first, but I thought I would run something by you guys/gals first. It started after several hours of driving so the oil temp was at operating temp. The light did not correlate with engine RPM. It flickered at high RPM but then it wouldn't do it always at idle speed. The flicker was intermittent. It seems to me that if it was an oil pump problem the light would come on at idle and possibly go out at higher engine speeds. If that's true then the other possible problems could be the sending unit or the wiring to the sending unit. Where is the Sending unit? Is it under the shroud plate, driver's side? Thanks in advance to all your thoughts. Stephen DeMocko ('85 Westy Luci)
