Subject: Rear brake adjustment
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all i just replaced the rear brake shoes and drums. ive done my fair share of brakes on vws but im sorta out of it when it comes to this whole adjusting rod thing. i swapped out the old for the new and now i need to adjust. i took every part apart and cleaned and lubed as needed and installed the same as it came off. i then adjusted as per standard brakes with the adjusting stars. i adjusted the e brake and still could adjust some more. what im asking is how to or what needs to be done with the self adjusting thing and how does it work? i looked at the bentley and it is a bit unclear. i dont have a tool to measure the distance from shoe to shoe. is shoe to shoe measurment made with the self adjustment rod or the stars. im sorta confused and i think this email will sound confusing. what im getting at is how do you adjust with all new parts? thanks Jonce if its in the archive let me know. it probabley is with most everything else. c-ya Jonce
