Subject: Suitable Westy window unit?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hi folks,

I live in Denver but Louisiana is my home state. My heart is completely broken by what I'm seeing on TV and hearing from so many friends and extended family who are now homeless refugees.

After a long talk with my wife and with my brother in Baton Rouge, I've decided to go down and volunteer with the Red Cross early next week. I'm going in my '85 Wolfsburg Westy, and am going to be living in it for a few weeks. Right now the weather is unbearably hot down there, and I need a way to stay cool at night and am looking for an inexpensive way to accomplish this. I'm going on a truly shoestring budget, here. (Some of you might remember that I was laid off in May...)

Terry's are ideal, but unfortunately well out of my price range. I've seen a few 40 lb. models at Best Buy for around $125. Does anybody have any experience with these? I'll be parked in a driveway mostly, so I'll have access to a power source. I just wonder about safe mounting, effectiveness, etc.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, as well as any positive thoughts and/or prayers for the Gulf Coast and New Orleans.

Thanks, Joe T. '85 Wolfsburg Westy Denver, CO
